38 Frames at 68 De Korte
38 Frames at 68 De Korte is an exhibition presenting the culmination of creative responses during a three month studio residency at TwilSharp Studios in Johannesburg. Taking the form of installation, photography, video and performance the artist responds to framed publication covers found in 2016, abandoned within a pending demolition site, the former home of the South African Institute of Race Relations located within Auden House in Braamfontein.
For the artist these items have become vehicles for researching Auden House, its tenants, significance and neighbouring initiatives within Braamfontein at the time of Apartheid, while inserting her own narratives and dialogues that discuss South African identity politics, authorship, African diaspora, and her encounters with these items.
Photo's by Zelé Angelides.
